Harmon Kardon AMX “is dedicated to integrating AV solutions for an IT World. AMX solves the complexity of managing technology with reliable, consistent and scalable systems comprising control and automation, system-wide switching and AV signal distribution, digital signage and technology management. AMX systems are deployed worldwide in conference rooms, homes, classrooms, network operation/command centers, hotels, entertainment venues and broadcast facilities, among others.”

They came to TopCoder to redesign the user experience for their tablet application with the premise that high net worth clients deserved a high value experience to match the needs of the customers in managing their A/V systems primarily for residential set-ups.  The initial experience was, honestly, minimally useful and didn’t provide easy to understand and use pathways for the various functions that the AMX Living System provides.

After doing some initial analysis and first approaches as mapping and wireframing, it became apparent that the needs for the application were much more complex than initially anticipated – so it provided the opportunity to examine every element and interaction to help the application become the experience the users deserved.
